A continent growing colder
Across Sarpadia, the climate is growing colder. Five civilizations face enemies outside their borders and dangers arising within. Religious divisions, raids, and creatures their creators can no longer control threaten the societies trying to endure the change.
A divided Icatia
In Icatia, the Order of Leitbur opposes the Order of the Ebon Hand. Farrel believes the Icatians have tolerated Tourach's followers too readily. His followers break away and turn against both Icatia and its enemies. Their zeal leaves the society divided while other threats grow.
The dwarves and the raiders
Orcs and goblins intensify their attacks as the cold deepens. Icatian towns become armed camps. The dwarves also face the raiders, resisting until their civilization falls. They are the first civilization lost in the catastrophe. Even its name disappears from the surviving account.
The thrull rebellion
The Ebon Hand bred thrulls to serve and fight. That decision places a new enemy inside the order itself. The thrulls become a threat to the people who created them, turning the order's own servants against it.
Vodalia against the homarids
Beneath the water, Vodalian merfolk face the homarids. The worsening cold brings an advantage to their enemies. A struggle for survival unfolds beyond the reach of Icatia's walls or the Ebon Hand's commands.
The elves and thallids
In the forest, elves confront the thallids. The fungal creatures draw on the forest's energy and become increasingly difficult to resist. The landscape that sustained the elves now supports beings threatening their civilization.
The fall of Sarpadia
No single final battle accounts for all these losses. The dwarves fall to the raiders. Icatia is weakened by division and assault. The Ebon Hand faces its own thrulls, Vodalia the homarids, and the elves the thallids. The peoples of Sarpadia cannot preserve the societies they knew as the cold and their enemies close around them.
